In one sentence: this is a free reference compiled by machine from manufacturer manuals, it is provided with no warranty of any kind, it is not a fitment guarantee, and you use it at your own risk and on your own responsibility.

1. What this site is — and what it is not

OrphanSpec transcribes service specifications and part numbers out of the owner manuals of discontinued outdoor power equipment, and shows the manual page each figure came from so you can check it. That is the whole of what it claims to do.

It is not:

2. No warranty

The content is provided as is and as available. To the fullest extent permitted by law, no warranty or guarantee of any kind is given, whether express or implied — in particular no warranty of accuracy, completeness, currency, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability or non-infringement. No advice or information obtained from this site creates any warranty that is not expressly stated here.

There is no guarantee that the site will be available, uninterrupted or error-free. It may be changed, restricted or discontinued at any time without notice.

3. Limitation of liability

Liability is limited as follows. The tiers below are those permitted by German law; a blanket exclusion would be void and would leave full statutory liability in its place, which serves nobody.

The same limits apply to the personal liability of any person acting for the site owner.

4. How accurate the data is, honestly

Every figure here was extracted from a PDF by software and not read by a person. Each one is checked against plausibility rules — a value that cannot be a spark plug designation is discarded rather than shown — and every entry carries the page of the manual it came from, so you can verify it yourself. That is a good deal better than an unsourced list, and it is still not certainty:

Therefore: check every number against the plate on your own machine, and against the parts actually fitted, before you buy or fit anything. If a figure here contradicts your manual or a dealer, they are right and this site is wrong.

Found an error? Please write to contact@orphanspec.com with the model number and the page. Corrections are made as quickly as they can be verified.

5. Safety

Working on engines and cutting equipment is dangerous. Blades cause severe injuries even when the engine is off, petrol and its vapour ignite easily, and an engine can start unintentionally while you have your hands in it. Always follow the safety instructions in the manufacturer’s manual for your machine, disconnect the spark plug lead before any work near the blade or the engine, and let a qualified technician do anything you are not sure about. Nothing on this site replaces those instructions or that judgement.

6. Links to other sites

This site links to outside pages, in particular to the source of a manual. Those pages are outside our control. Under §§ 7 to 10 DDG we are not obliged to monitor transmitted or stored third-party information, or to investigate circumstances indicating unlawful activity. At the time of linking, no unlawful content was apparent. A permanent check of linked pages without concrete evidence of an infringement is not reasonable; if we are told of one, the link will be removed promptly.

7. Trade marks and third-party rights

Craftsman, Sears, Companion, Murray, MTD, Ryobi, Husqvarna, Poulan, Briggs & Stratton, Tecumseh, Kohler, Champion, NGK and all other manufacturer names, model designations and part numbers on this site are the trade marks or product identifiers of their respective owners. They appear here for one reason: to say which machine a specification belongs to. That is descriptive use. It implies no affiliation, no licence, no sponsorship and no endorsement, and none is claimed.

Rights holders who consider a use on this site to be improper are asked to write to contact@orphanspec.com. Justified objections are acted on without needing a lawyer’s letter.

8. Copyright

Part numbers, measurements and settings are facts. Facts are not protected by copyright, and reproducing them is not an infringement. Where a short passage of a manual is quoted, it is quoted as evidence for the figure beside it, with the source and page given — the purpose and the extent permitted by § 51 of the German Copyright Act. The manuals themselves are not hosted or redistributed here.

The selection, arrangement, wording and presentation of this site are its owner’s work and are protected. Individual pages may be used and linked freely; see the terms of use for what is and is not permitted.

9. Advertising and commission links

At the time of writing, this site carries no advertising and no commission (affiliate) links, and receives no payment from anyone for what it shows. Should that change, links that earn a commission will be labelled as advertising where they appear, and this page and the privacy policy will be updated before the change goes live. What is shown on a page will not depend on who pays for it.

10. Governing law

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of the country in which you have your habitual residence.
